A trifecta of an airdrop launch, the community choosing Notcoin over Bitcoin, and a passive reward scheme have led to Notcoin’s recent gains.
Interestingly, Notcoin’s decisive surge of 45% comes while the total crypto market cap is down 1.5%, reflecting significant relative strength for the new token.
It is currently trading at $0.007694 with a market cap of $790 million and a 24-hour trading volume of $1 billion, which is up 470% today.
This surge has pushed Notcoin up the crypto market cap rankings, where it currently has the 100th largest valuation. Notcoin recently announced that its phase 1 airdrop is now available.
The price soared after the announcement, indicating that potential NIE buyers held off until post-airdrop launch, competing for a lower price after airdrop winners sold their tokens.
However, with the air drop already underway, these buyers who have been on the sidelines may start to move in. This will also reflect why Notcoin’s trading volume has increased, with an increase in buyer and seller activity.
“It seems that most people who received tokens for free sold them. This is the main reason for today’s growth,” wrote analyst Web3_Vibes on X.
Meanwhile, a community vote favoring Notcoin over Bitcoin is adding to the recent price rally. The Notcoin X account posted a poll comparing Notcoin and Bitcoin, asking its followers which crypto has limited supply, wide distribution and is still affordable.
An overwhelming 86.2% of the 29K voters chose Notcoin. The team also pointed out that Bitcoin’s price was $100 when it had a similar market cap to that of Notcoin at the time of the tweet.
Notcoin has also introduced a passive earnings feature that allows users to generate NIE rewards by interacting with its partner projects and communities. According to a recent tweet, users who qualify for the “Platinum” level can earn more than a 300% APY.
Notcoin is a Telegram-based game that was launched in November 2023 and gathered more than 650,000 users in its opening weeks. According to recent data, more than five million participants are now interacting with the Notcoin protocol.
Indeed, this large user base immediately gave the token an upper hand after its launch in May, and recent developments have reinforced its excitement.
